Go Green!

Above-ground recovery

With a little historical research and sonar technology, our trained recovery team retrieves logs from the base of the Cape Fear River. We are the only company in North Carolina to have secured the permits from the appropriate government agencies to do so. The process helps to clean out the riverbed creating fish and shrimp habitats. We also alert the N.C. Archeological Society when we make finds of historical significance. Which we do on occasion! From start to finish, it is really a fascinating experience bringing up these pieces of history.

Cape Fear RiverwoodTM is committed to encouraging the use of environmentally responsible building materials. We do not cut living timber. We only recover previously felled logs. By using these resources that are in a sense just lying around, we protect our living forests. We also take steps to do our part as we process the logs. Our large wood scraps are made into beautiful adirondack chairs. Our smaller woodchip byproducts are put to use as mulch. We rely on the “old” methods of producing a quality product for your family or business. We do not make laminate products, which involve a chemically harsh glue process.

Check out the Mainstream Green Home in Raleigh, NC. We partnered with Cherokee Partners and other green product suppliers to prove that a green home can still look and feel traditional. Awareness is growing regarding our environmental impact on the land and its resources. We are proud that people love our wood not only for its history and beauty, but also because it is an environmentally responsible alternative to the traditional logging industry.
